MAG-16, based at MCAS Miramar, is the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing's assault support command, controlling MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor and CH-53 Super Stallion heavy-lift squadrons including VMM-161, VMM-163, VMM-165, VMM-362, HMH-361, HMH-462, HMH-465, HMH-466, and MALS-16. As the first helicopter group ever established in the Marine Corps, MAG-16's lineage stretches back to 1952 and includes combat deployments from Vietnam to Desert Storm to the Global War on Terror. This PVC variant offers a modern, weather-resistant take on one of Marine aviation's most storied unit insignias.
