Official MALS-16 Forward PVC Patch - Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 16 Forward Deployed Detachment, MAG-16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, PVC Patch.

The Immortals keep Marine aviation flying wherever the mission goes, from the flight line at Miramar to austere expeditionary airfields across the globe.

Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 16 was activated on 1 March 1952 and has served under Marine Aircraft Group 16 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing ever since, earning the nickname the Immortals and living by the motto Best Supporting the Best. Based at MCAS Miramar, the squadron provides intermediate-level maintenance, aviation supply, and ordnance logistics to MAG-16 squadrons, keeping aircraft ready for distributed operations, close air support, and crisis response. The Forward designation marks the deployed detachment element of MALS-16, a concept the squadron pioneered when it became the first MALS in Marine Corps history to deploy in support of combat operations during Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1990. MALS-16 Forward has since supported operations in Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Indo-Pacific MEU rotations, with detachments ranging from a handful of specialists to hundreds of Marines pushing parts, power plants, and avionics support directly to the flight line wherever MAG-16 aircraft are operating. The PVC format captures that forward-deployed identity in a durable, field-ready construction suited to gear bags, patch panels, flight-line jackets, and shadow boxes without losing the sharp unit detail that makes Marine aviation logistics patches worth collecting.

Perfect for MALS-16 veterans and active-duty Marines, MAG-16 and 3rd MAW alumni, Marine aviation logistics collectors, forward-deployed detachment members, maintainers and avionics technicians, Desert Storm and OIF or OEF veterans, 31st MEU supporters, shadow box builders, reunion gifts, and anyone assembling a serious Marine Corps aviation unit-history collection that goes beyond cockpit crews to honor the logistics Marines who make every sortie possible.

Immortals heritage, forward deployed and built to last on the board, the bag, and the shadow box.
