Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 11 (MALS-11), the "Devilfish," is the aviation logistics backbone of Marine Aircraft Group 11 (MAG-11) at MCAS Miramar, California. Operating under the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and I Marine Expeditionary Force, MALS-11 provides intermediate-level maintenance, supply, and logistics support to all squadrons within MAG-11 — including KC-130J Super Hercules, F/A-18 Hornet, and other tactical aircraft. This chest patch format is designed for prominent placement on flight suits and coveralls.
MALS squadrons are the logistics engines that keep Marine aviation operational. MALS-11's Devilfish Marines staff the intermediate maintenance activity (IMA), supply warehouses, avionics repair shops, and component repair facilities that keep MAG-11's aircraft flying. When a squadron needs a replacement engine, a repaired avionics box, or a hard-to-find spare part, MALS-11 delivers. The chest patch format provides greater visibility than standard shoulder patches, making it a distinctive way to represent the Devilfish on the flightline and in maintenance spaces.
