Official HT-8 Eightballers TH-73 Thrasher Shoulder Patch — Helicopter Training Squadron 8 Embroidered Patch
Behind the 8-ball and loving it — HT-8 Eightballers train the fleet's next helicopter pilots on the TH-73A.
Helicopter Training Squadron 8 (HT-8), the "Eightballers," is a United States Navy helicopter training squadron based at Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton, Florida, under Training Air Wing Five. HT-8 is the lead squadron for the Navy's transition to the TH-73A Thrasher, the next-generation helicopter trainer that replaces the four-decade-old TH-57 Sea Ranger. The Eightballers train student naval aviators from the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard in the fundamentals of rotary-wing flight, instrument procedures, formation flying, and advanced mission training that will prepare them for fleet helicopter and tiltrotor aircraft. With the TH-73A's modern glass cockpit and digital avionics, HT-8's students now train on systems that directly mirror what they will fly in operational squadrons. This shoulder patch marks HT-8's new era as the Thrasher training vanguard.
Perfect For: HT-8 Eightballers instructor pilots and student aviators, TH-73A Thrasher crews, NAS Whiting Field personnel, Training Air Wing Five members, and helicopter training patch collectors.
