HSM-74, the Swamp Foxes, is a Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron flying the MH-60R Seahawk out of NAS Jacksonville, Florida. Named after Francis Marion, the Revolutionary War guerrilla fighter who ambushed the British throughout the South Carolina swamps, HSM-74 carries that same ambush mentality into modern anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare. The "Ambush" shoulder patch captures the predatory essence of the squadron — quiet approach, devastating execution. Operating from destroyers and cruisers across the Atlantic Fleet, the Swamp Foxes specialize in the kind of warfare where the enemy doesn't know they've been found until it's too late.
