Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 74 deploys detachments aboard guided-missile destroyers and cruisers as part of carrier strike groups and surface action groups. This DET patch represents one of HSM-74's deployed detachments, operating MH-60R Seahawks independently from the main squadron to provide anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, and search and rescue capability directly to the ship. Each detachment operates with remarkable autonomy, maintaining their aircraft and executing missions far from home station.
