Official HMLA-773 Det A Red Dogs Halloween Patches — Trick or Treat, Close Air Support Edition
Because even reserve Cobras celebrate Halloween — and the Red Dogs do it with fangs out.
HMLA-773, the Red Dogs, is a Marine Reserve Light Attack Helicopter Squadron flying the AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom, split between Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, and NAS JRB New Orleans. The Red Dogs were the first reserve helicopter squadron activated for combat during Desert Storm in 1990, deployed to Afghanistan along the Pakistan border in 2003, and were among the first military units to respond to Hurricane Katrina in their own backyard of New Orleans. Det A, based in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, carries that same fighting spirit — and apparently celebrates Halloween with appropriately terrifying morale patches.
Perfect For: HMLA-773 Det A Marines, Red Dogs alumni, 4th MAW reservists, and anyone who believes attack helicopters and Halloween are a natural combination.
The Red Dogs don't need costumes to be scary — but they'll wear the patch anyway.
