**Official HMLA-167 Warriors S2 PVC Glow Patch — Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron PVC Patch**
HMLA-167 Warriors — forged in the fire of Vietnam at Marble Mountain, these are the Marines who put Cobras and Hueys where the enemy least wants them. The S2 intelligence section keeps the Warriors one step ahead.
HMLA-167, the "Warriors," was commissioned on March 15, 1968, at Marble Mountain Air Facility, Republic of Vietnam — born directly into combat. From commissioning through June 1971, HML-167 flew UH-1E Hueys against communist forces, with two of the squadron's aircraft being the last Marine helicopters to leave Vietnam. After transitioning to the AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter in the 1980s, the Warriors participated in Operation Praying Mantis in 1988, assaulting Iranian oil platforms and escorting tanker convoys in the Persian Gulf. HMLA-167 deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan in the Global War on Terror, and today flies the AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom from MCAS New River, North Carolina, under Marine Aircraft Group 29, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing.
