HMH-366 Hammerheads Throwback Patch — Embroidered Patch

Hammerheads — A Legacy Worth Remembering

Some squadrons leave a mark so deep that even after decommissioning, their legacy demands to be preserved. This throwback patch honors HMH-366, the Hammerheads — a squadron born in Hawaii, reborn on the East Coast, and remembered by every Marine who ever turned wrenches or flew hours under the Hammerhead banner.

Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 366 (HMH-366) was first commissioned on 30 September 1994 at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii — the only Hawaiian-born helicopter squadron in active service. The "Hammerheads" callsign was inspired by the massive hammerhead shark populations in Kaneohe Bay, and the original patch featured a hammerhead shark leaping over a CH-53D Sea Stallion. After deactivation in 2000, the squadron was recommissioned in September 2008 under MAG-29 at MCAS New River, transitioning to the CH-53E Super Stallion. The Hammerheads deployed to Afghanistan and supported operations across multiple theaters before being decommissioned on 16 December 2022 as part of Force Design 2030. This throwback patch preserves the memory of a squadron that served with distinction from the Pacific to the Atlantic.

Perfect For:
HMH-366 veterans and alumni, CH-53 community members, MCAS Kaneohe Bay and MCAS New River Marines, MAG-29 personnel, heavy-lift enthusiasts, and anyone who carries the Hammerhead legacy forward.

Hammerheads forever — HMH-366's legacy lives on.
