**CH-53 Heavy Lift Shoulder Patch — USMC HMH-466 Wolfpack Embroidered Patch**
CH-53 Heavy Lift — when the Marines need something enormous moved to somewhere impossible, they call the CH-53 crews. HMH-466 Wolfpack was the first CH-53E squadron to deploy to Saudi Arabia and the first to conduct NVG troop insertions in combat. That's what heavy lift looks like.
Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 466 (HMH-466), the "Wolfpack," was commissioned on 30 November 1984 as MAG-16's second CH-53E Super Stallion squadron. The Wolfpack became the first CH-53E squadron to deploy to Saudi Arabia when Iraq invaded Kuwait in August 1990, conducting the first Night Vision Goggle troop insertion during Desert Storm and providing heavy lift support for the ground phase of the operation. In November 1993, HMH-466 became the only CH-53E squadron to reach 25,000 Class A mishap-free flight hours. Based at MCAS Miramar under MAG-16 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, the Wolfpack has participated in fourteen MEU(SOC) deployments and supported operations in Somalia, Iraq, and Afghanistan — including Operation MOSHTARAK in Helmand Province, the largest helicopter-borne raid of OEF, inserting Marines with eight CH-53Es into the largest insurgent stronghold in the province.
