Official OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Patch - U.S. Army Bell OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter Embroidered Patch.
Eyes of Army aviation, low and fast over the battlefield, keeping ground troops informed and protected from Desert Storm to the mountains of Afghanistan.
The OH-58D Kiowa Warrior is a single-engine, four-bladed armed reconnaissance helicopter developed through the U.S. Army Helicopter Improvement Program and first delivered in the Kiowa Warrior configuration in 1991. Its most recognizable feature is the Mast Mounted Sight positioned above the main rotor, housing a thermal imaging system, laser rangefinder and designator, and low-light television, allowing crews to observe and designate targets while remaining concealed behind terrain. The aircraft conducted armed reconnaissance, security, target acquisition, convoy escort, light attack, and on-call fire support missions across Desert Storm, Bosnia, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Since 2001, Kiowa Warriors accounted for nearly half of all Army reconnaissance and attack aviation platforms and flew more than half of total reconnaissance and attack hours across both theaters. Cavalry squadrons flying the OH-58D worked directly with ground troops, relaying targeting data to Apache crews and artillery while loitering low over contested ground. The platform was retired from U.S. Army service in 2017, with its final formation flight at Fort Bragg setting a Guinness World Record for the largest helicopter formation in history. This embroidered patch honors the aircraft, the air cavalry crews, and the maintainers who kept it flying through decades of continuous combat operations.
Perfect For: U.S. Army aviation veterans, OH-58D Kiowa Warrior pilots and crew members, air cavalry troopers, combat aviation brigade alumni, Desert Storm and OIF or OEF deployment keepsakes, shadow boxes, patch boards, reunion displays, and collectors building a serious Army rotary-wing or scout aviation history collection. It also suits family members and supporters who want a meaningful tribute to the scout crews who flew low, stayed close to the fight, and kept ground forces informed when timing and visibility mattered most.
Kiowa Warrior heritage, stitched for the scouts who were always first over the horizon.
