**VMFAT-501 Warlords Sticker — Marine F-35B Training Squadron Vinyl Sticker**

VMFAT-501 Warlords — the Marine Corps' first F-35B Lightning II squadron, carrying the lineage of a unit whose original motto was "Vini, Vici" — "we conquered some wine." From WWII Corsairs over Tokyo to fifth-generation stealth fighters, these Warlords have always been ahead of the curve.

VMFAT-501 traces its lineage to Marine Fighting Squadron 451 (VMF-451), activated on 15 February 1944 at MCAS Mojave, California. The original "Blue Devils" flew F4U-1D Corsairs from USS Bunker Hill, striking targets near Tokyo in their first combat sorties. Reactivated for Korea with F9F Panthers, the squadron adopted the "Warlords" name in 1954 with the FJ-2 Fury, and went on to fly Crusaders, Phantoms, and F/A-18 Hornets. At 0300 on 17 January 1991, the Warlords became the first Marine unit to attack Iraqi forces in Operation Desert Storm, logging 770 combat sorties. After deactivation in 1997, the squadron was reborn on 1 April 2010 as VMFAT-501, the Marine Corps' first F-35B Lightning II Fleet Replacement Squadron — and the first Marine squadron ever embedded in an Air Force wing. Now based at MCAS Beaufort under MAG-31, VMFAT-501 trains every Marine F-35B pilot for the fleet.
