Officially Licensed USMC VMFA-211 Wake Island Avengers Chest Patches - Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 211 (VMFA-211) officially licensed embroidered chest patch, MCAS Yuma, MAG-13, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.
Wake Island Avengers: a name earned in blood in December 1941 and carried forward through every aircraft, every deployment, and every generation of Marines who wore the plunging lion.
VMFA-211 traces its lineage to 1937 and earned its defining identity at Wake Island, where twelve F4F Wildcats held off overwhelming Japanese forces for two weeks in December 1941. The first Marine airman awarded the Medal of Honor in World War II, Henry T. Elrod, flew with VMF-211 during that siege. After Wake fell, the surviving rear echelon rebuilt and adopted the Avengers name to honor those killed or captured. The squadron has carried that name through the Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, flying the A-4 Skyhawk, AV-8B Harrier, and ultimately the F-35B Lightning II. Redesignated VMFA-211 on 30 June 2016, the Avengers became the second Marine fleet squadron to operate the F-35B and made history on 27 September 2018 when an Avengers jet delivered the first F-35 combat strike ever recorded. The squadron later deployed aboard HMS Queen Elizabeth for the UK Carrier Strike Group 2021 deployment across the Mediterranean, Indian Ocean, and Western Pacific. Today the Avengers remain forward-deployed under MAG-13 at MCAS Yuma, supporting distributed maritime operations and Indo-Pacific deterrence. This officially licensed embroidered chest patch carries that unbroken lineage in a format built for flight suits, jackets, shadow boxes, and serious unit-history collections.
Perfect for VMFA-211 veterans and active-duty Marines, F-35B Lightning II aircrew and maintainers, Marine aviation collectors, MAG-13 and 3rd MAW alumni, Wake Island history enthusiasts, shadow box builders, deployment keepsake displays, reunion gifts, and anyone who wants an officially licensed piece tied to one of the most decorated and historically significant fighter attack squadrons in Marine Corps aviation history.
Wake Island Avengers heritage, officially licensed and stitched for the Marines who know exactly what that name cost.
