Officially Licensed USMC VMFA-225 Vikings Squadron Patches — Norsemen of Naval Aviation
Because from Corsairs over the Pacific to F-35Bs over the desert, the Vikings have never stopped raiding.
VMFA-225, the Vikings, is a Marine Fighter Attack Squadron now flying the F-35B Lightning II out of MCAS Yuma, Arizona, under MAG-13 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. Commissioned in January 1943 as VMF-225, the squadron flew F4U Corsairs in combat operations across the New Hebrides Islands during World War II. The Vikings went on to fly Skyraiders, Skyhawks, A-6 Intruders in Vietnam out of Da Nang, and the two-seat F/A-18D Hornet — becoming the first Marine Corps fighter squadron deployed to the Middle East for Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. In 2021, the Vikings transitioned to the F-35B, making them one of the Corps' premier fifth-generation strike fighter squadrons and a key part of the future force.
Perfect For: VMFA-225 Vikings past and present, MAG-13 Marines, F-35B Lightning II enthusiasts, and anyone who appreciates a squadron lineage that stretches from Corsairs to stealth.
Eighty years of combat aviation. Still pillaging the skies.
