Officially Licensed USMC VMF-225 Vikings Throwback Patches — The Original Viking Insignia
Because before the Hornets and the Lightning, there were Corsairs — and this is where the Viking legend began.
This is the first patch design for VMF-225, the original Marine Fighting Squadron that was commissioned on January 1, 1943, at MCAS Mojave, California. The squadron flew F4U Corsairs in combat across the New Hebrides Islands during World War II before returning stateside and later redesignating through VMA-225, VMA(AW)-225, VMFA(AW)-225, and now VMFA-225. Today's Vikings wear this throwback patch to honor the World War II-era lineage that started it all — a direct connection to the Corsair pilots who established the Viking name in the skies over the Pacific. Worn by current VMFA-225 F-35B pilots as a heritage patch, it bridges nearly 80 years of Marine fighter aviation.
Perfect For: VMFA-225 Vikings honoring their heritage, VMF-225 history buffs, World War II Marine aviation collectors, and anyone who knows that throwback patches carry the weight of history.
The first Viking insignia. Still worn with pride by today's stealth fighters.
