Official VMFA-232 Red Devils Japan Blackout Patches — Embroidered Patch

A Century of Devils in the Dark

Blackout patches are earned in the shadows — subdued, tactical, and designed for operations where visibility means vulnerability. These VMFA-232 Red Devils Japan Blackout patches represent the oldest and most decorated fighter squadron in the Marine Corps operating from one of the most strategically vital bases in the Pacific. If you've flown with the Red Devils out of Iwakuni, these patches mark your time in the Western Pacific.

VMFA-232 traces its lineage back to September 1, 1925, when the squadron was commissioned as VF-3M at Naval Air Station San Diego — making it the oldest active fighter squadron in the Marine Corps. The Red Devils have participated in nearly every major conflict in American history, from deploying to China in 1927 to flying Corsairs at Guadalcanal, Panthers over Korea, Crusaders and Phantoms in Vietnam, and Hornets over Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria. The squadron has maintained a deep connection to the Western Pacific through decades of Unit Deployment Program rotations to MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, where they train alongside Japanese Air Self-Defense Force counterparts. In their most recent combat deployment, the Red Devils dropped over 261,000 pounds of ordnance and fired more than 20,000 rounds of 20mm in support of Marines and coalition forces against ISIS, earning the special trust of every ground commander who heard the callsign "Stoic."

Perfect For:
VMFA-232 veterans and active duty, MAG-11 personnel, F/A-18 Hornet community members, MCAS Iwakuni and Miramar Marines, WestPac deployment veterans, and Red Devils alumni

A hundred years of Red Devils. Still the deadliest squadron in the Corps.
