Official VMF-121 Throwback Chest & Shoulder Patch — Marine Fighter Squadron 121 Green Knights Heritage Embroidered Patch
From Bearcats to Lightning — the Green Knights endure.
Marine Fighter Squadron 121 (VMF-121) was the original designation of today's Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121 (VMFA-121) "Green Knights," one of the most storied squadrons in Marine Corps aviation history. This throwback patch set celebrates the squadron's heritage, featuring the classic VMF-121 insignia that traces back to the early days of Marine fighter aviation, including the F8F Bearcat era and the legendary "Have Gun Will Travel" motto.
VMF-121 earned its combat credentials during World War II in the Pacific Theater, where Marine fighter pilots engaged Japanese aircraft in desperate aerial combat over Guadalcanal, the Philippines, and other island campaigns. The squadron produced multiple aces and earned a Presidential Unit Citation for its extraordinary heroism. After the war, VMF-121 continued to evolve through the jet age, transitioning through multiple fighter aircraft before eventually becoming VMFA-121 — the Marine Corps' first operational F-35B Lightning II squadron, now based at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, as part of MAG-12 and the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing.
This throwback chest and shoulder patch set bridges the Green Knights' legendary past with their cutting-edge present.
Perfect For: VMF-121/VMFA-121 Green Knights veterans, F-35B Lightning II enthusiasts, WWII Marine aviation historians, and heritage squadron patch collectors.
