Strike Fighter Squadron 147 (VFA-147), the Argonauts, is a U.S. Navy strike fighter squadron based at NAS Lemoore, California. Having transitioned from the F/A-18E Super Hornet to the F-35C Lightning II, VFA-147 became one of the first operational Navy squadrons to deploy with the fifth-generation stealth fighter. This "Wild Sea Weasel" patch references the squadron's suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD) mission — the dangerous task of hunting and destroying enemy surface-to-air missile sites. The combination of the F-35C's stealth, advanced sensors, and precision weapons makes VFA-147 a lethal SEAD platform, capable of penetrating contested airspace that previous-generation fighters could not.
