Official HMH-772 Hustlers Johnstown Liberty Bell Patch — The Reserve Hustlers' Pennsylvania Heritage
The Hustlers come from Pennsylvania, and they carry the Liberty Bell wherever they deploy.
Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 772 (HMH-772) — the 'Hustlers' — is one of the Marine Corps' most distinguished reserve squadrons, flying the CH-53E Super Stallion out of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, under MAG-49, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing. The Hustlers trace their roots to NAS Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, where Helicopter Transport Squadron 772 was activated on April 15, 1958, and the squadron's Pennsylvania heritage runs deep. The Johnstown Liberty Bell identity on this patch connects the Hustlers to their Pennsylvania roots — the commonwealth that gave America both the Liberty Bell and some of the Marine Corps' toughest reserve Marines. HMM-772 was the last squadron to operate the UH-34D in 1971, supported the search and rescue effort after the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster in 1986, deployed to Okinawa and the Philippines for Operation Fiery Vigil aboard USS Midway during Desert Storm, became the first reserve squadron to earn the Special Operations Capable designation with the 24th MEU in 2002, provided heavy-lift support in Kosovo and Djibouti, supported Operation Iraqi Freedom with Task Force Tarawa, and deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 where they became the first unit to airlift the M777A2 howitzer in combat during Operation Khanjar. This patch celebrates the Hustlers' Pennsylvania roots and their Liberty Bell heritage.
Perfect For: HMH-772 Hustlers Marines past and present, Pennsylvania Marine reservists, NAS Willow Grove and JB McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst personnel, CH-53E Super Stallion crew members, and anyone who served with the Hustlers and carries the Liberty Bell spirit.
