Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 6 (HC-6), the Chargers, was a U.S. Navy helicopter squadron operating the H-3 Sea King in the fleet combat support role. HC-6 provided vertical replenishment, combat search and rescue, and utility transport to Atlantic Fleet ships and carrier battle groups. The Chargers' Sea Kings were the workhorses of fleet logistics, ferrying critical parts, mail, personnel, and supplies between shore bases and ships operating at sea. HC-6's rapid response capability was essential to maintaining fleet readiness when every hour of delay could impact operational capability.
