This memorial patch and sticker honors the three American sailors killed in the tragic shooting at Naval Air Station Pensacola on December 6, 2019: Ensign Joshua Kaleb Watson, Airman Mohammed Sameh Haitham, and Airman Apprentice Cameron Scott Walters. These young men gave their lives in service to their country at the Cradle of Naval Aviation, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten by the naval aviation community.
The Naval Aviation Schools Command at NAS Pensacola is where thousands of student naval aviators, naval flight officers, and enlisted aircrew begin their careers in naval aviation. The December 6 attack shook the entire military community, but the response of the base personnel — including the heroic actions of the victims who confronted the shooter — demonstrated the courage and selflessness that define those who serve. Ensign Watson, despite being mortally wounded, made it outside to direct first responders to the scene. This memorial patch ensures that their courage and sacrifice remain in the collective memory of everyone who trains and serves at NAS Pensacola.
