Legacy US Customs Jacksonville Air Branch Original Patch — Legacy U.S. Customs Service Jacksonville Air Branch Original Design Embroidered Patch
The original Chet — Legacy U.S. Customs Jacksonville Air Branch, the predecessor to today's CBP Air and Marine Operations, back when Customs ran its own air fleet.
This patch represents the original U.S. Customs Service Jacksonville Air Branch, predating the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection in 2003. The legacy U.S. Customs Service operated its own fleet of aircraft for drug interdiction, surveillance, and border security operations, and the Jacksonville Air Branch was a key node in that aviation network.
The legacy Customs air program was one of the most effective counter-narcotics aviation operations in the world, using fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters to detect, track, and interdict drug-running aircraft and vessels in the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and along the Eastern Seaboard. Jacksonville's strategic location on Florida's Atlantic coast provided ideal positioning for operations covering major drug trafficking corridors. When the Department of Homeland Security was created, the Customs air program was merged into CBP's Air and Marine Operations.
This original design patch is a piece of federal law enforcement aviation history, representing the era before DHS reorganization when the U.S. Customs Service maintained its own dedicated air interdiction capability.
Perfect For: Legacy U.S. Customs Service aviation veterans, CBP Air and Marine Operations historians, federal law enforcement aviation enthusiasts, and legacy agency patch collectors.
