HMLA-369 Gunfighters Gunner Shoulder Patch — The Gunner Rides Shotgun
In the back seat of a Cobra, the Gunner doesn't just ride — the Gunner fights.
HMLA-369 "Gunfighters" is a Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron flying the AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom out of MCAS Camp Pendleton, California, under MAG-39 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. Commissioned in 1972 at MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, the Gunfighters saw their first combat just two months later during Operation MARHUK — the Marine Hunter Killer program that marked the first offensive air operations with attack helicopters in Marine Corps history. Since then, the Gunfighters have served in Desert Shield/Storm as the first HMLA in theater, Operation Restore Hope in Somalia, and multiple combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. This shoulder patch specifically recognizes the AH-1Z Gunner — the weapons systems officer in the front seat who designates targets, fires missiles, and makes sure every round counts.
Perfect For: HMLA-369 Gunfighters Marines, AH-1Z Viper WSOs and gunners, attack helicopter aircrew, MCAS Camp Pendleton squadrons, MAG-39 and 3rd MAW personnel, and anyone who earned their seat in the front of a Cobra.
HMLA-369 Gunfighters — the Gunner makes the kill.
