Destroyer Squadron 23 The Little Beaver Patch — The Most Decorated Destroyer Squadron in WWII

Destroyer Squadron 23, the Little Beavers, compiled one of the most impressive combat records of World War II under Captain Arleigh Burke.

Destroyer Squadron 23, known as the Little Beavers, achieved legendary fame during World War II under the command of Captain Arleigh Burke (later Admiral and Chief of Naval Operations). The Little Beavers fought in a series of decisive surface engagements in the Solomon Islands, earning the Presidential Unit Citation and establishing Burke's reputation as one of the greatest destroyer tacticians in naval history. DESRON 23's aggressive, fast-moving destroyer tactics became the standard for surface warfare, and Burke's name was later given to the most numerous class of guided-missile destroyers in the Navy.

Perfect For: Destroyer Squadron 23 heritage fans, Arleigh Burke admirers, WWII surface warfare historians, and Navy destroyer embroidered patch collectors.
