The CH-53E Super Stallion provided critical heavy-lift capability during Operation Iraqi Freedom, transporting troops, vehicles, ammunition, and supplies across the vast Iraqi desert. The Super Stallion's ability to move artillery, light armored vehicles, and massive quantities of cargo made it indispensable during the rapid advance and subsequent operations. CH-53 crews flew in degraded visual environments caused by sand and dust storms that tested both aircraft and aircrew. This ribbon patch combines the Iraq campaign service ribbon with the Marine Corps' heavy lifter.
