The CH-53E Super Stallion played a critical role during Operation Iraqi Freedom, providing the heavy-lift helicopter capability essential to sustaining Marine operations across the vast Iraqi theater. CH-53 crews transported troops, vehicles, ammunition, and supplies across the desert, often flying in degraded visual environments caused by sand and dust storms. The Super Stallion's ability to move artillery pieces, light armored vehicles, and large quantities of cargo made it indispensable during the rapid advance into Iraq and the subsequent counterinsurgency operations. This Iraq-specific patch commemorates the CH-53 community's OIF service.
