The CH-53E Super Stallion provided critical heavy-lift capability during Operation Enduring Freedom, transporting troops, vehicles, artillery, and supplies across Afghanistan's rugged mountain terrain where road networks were limited and ground movement was dangerous. The Super Stallion's ability to lift heavy loads at high altitudes was essential in a country where many bases sat above 5,000 feet elevation. CH-53 crews flew in extreme heat, dust storms, and high-density altitude conditions. This ribbon patch combines the Afghanistan campaign service ribbon with the Marine Corps' heavy lifter.
