The MV-22B Osprey served extensively during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, where its unique tiltrotor capability proved invaluable. The Osprey's speed and range allowed VMM squadrons to cover vast distances across Afghanistan's rugged terrain, reaching remote outposts and landing zones that were hours away by conventional helicopter. V-22 crews conducted assault transport, casualty evacuation, and resupply missions throughout the theater. The Osprey's ability to fly faster and farther than any helicopter made it a game-changer in the vast Afghan battlespace. This ribbon patch combines the Afghanistan campaign service ribbon with the tiltrotor.
