Army Air Corps Clark Gable WWII 2nd Bomb Wing Patch — Hollywood's Bombardier

Clark Gable traded Hollywood for heavy bombers — the King of Hollywood became a combat airman.

This embroidered patch commemorates Clark Gable's service with the Army Air Corps' 2nd Bomb Wing during World War II. Gable, already one of the biggest movie stars in the world, enlisted after his wife Carole Lombard was killed in a plane crash while returning from a war bonds tour. He trained as an aerial gunner and observer, flew combat missions over Europe in B-17s, and earned the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. The King of Hollywood chose to put himself in harm's way when he could have stayed home. This patch honors that choice.

Perfect For: WWII Army Air Corps heritage fans, Clark Gable and Golden Age Hollywood enthusiasts, 2nd Bomb Wing historians, and celebrity military service patch collectors.

Clark Gable — the King of Hollywood who chose combat.
