The Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) qualification is one of the most critical in military aviation maintenance. CDI-qualified airframers are responsible for inspecting and verifying maintenance work on aircraft structures — from fuselages to flight control surfaces across every airframe in the inventory. This shoulder patch represents the Marines and sailors who hold the CDI qualification and bear the responsibility of certifying aircraft safe for flight.
