The AH-1W Super Cobra served as the Marine Corps' primary attack helicopter during Operation Iraqi Freedom, delivering close air support, armed reconnaissance, and escort with TOW missiles, Hellfires, rockets, and the 20mm cannon. Super Cobra crews flew in some of the most intense combat of the Iraq War, supporting Marines from the initial invasion through years of counterinsurgency. This ribbon patch combines the Iraq campaign service ribbon with the Marine Corps' attack helicopter.
