1st Anti-Tank Battalion Patch — Embroidered Patch
Tank Killers — 1st Anti-Tank Battalion
When enemy armor rolled, these were the Marines who stopped it cold. Armed with TOW missiles and Ontos vehicles, 1st Anti-Tank Battalion gave Marine infantry the firepower to destroy tanks, armored vehicles, and hardened positions — punching well above their weight class. This patch honors the anti-armor specialists who kept the 1st Marine Division lethal against mechanized threats.
1st Anti-Tank Battalion provided anti-armor capability to the 1st Marine Division, employing TOW (Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided) missile systems to destroy enemy tanks and fortified positions. The battalion's predecessor units operated the M50 Ontos, a lightly armored tracked vehicle mounting six 106mm recoilless rifles that became one of the most feared weapons in the Marine Corps arsenal during the Vietnam War — devastating against both armor and fortified positions in urban combat. Anti-tank battalions were organized with multiple TOW platoons that could be attached to infantry regiments and battalions, providing organic anti-armor capability at the tactical level. The battalion participated in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm and supported 1st Marine Division operations through multiple deployments before being reorganized as part of ongoing Marine Corps force structure changes.
Perfect For: Anti-tank Marines, TOW gunners, Ontos crewmen and veterans, 1st Marine Division support personnel, and anyone who appreciates the Marines who specialized in killing tanks.
Tank killers. 1st Anti-Tank Battalion — one shot, one kill.
