Standley (DLG-32 \/ CG-32) was a Belknap-class guided missile cruiser in the United States Navy, named in honor of Admiral William H. Standley — Chief of Naval Operations from 1933 to 1937 and U.S. Ambassador to the Soviet Union during World War II. The ship was built at Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine; her keel was laid on July 29, 1963; she was launched on December 19, 1964; and she was commissioned on July 9, 1966 as a destroyer leader (DLG-32). On June 30, 1975 she was reclassified from DLG-32 to CG-32 (cruiser) in the Navy-wide \"frigate-to-cruiser\" reclassification of the Belknap and Leahy class. Standley displaced approximately 7,930–8,100 tons, measured 547–548 feet in length, had a 55-foot beam, and could exceed 30 knots. Across nearly three decades of service she was homeported at Naval Station Mayport, Florida (first arriving on July 14, 1967), then Naval Station Charleston, and finally Naval Station San Diego — running Atlantic, Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Pacific deployments through the late Cold War and into the post-Cold War 1990s. Standley was decommissioned on February 11, 1994, struck from the Navy list the same day, and ultimately sunk as a target on June 23, 2005. This vinyl sticker keeps the ship alive.
