By moving tanker duties from manned platforms to the unmanned Stingray, every CVW frees up Super Hornet ordnance capacity and gains real reach. VUQ-10 was established October 1, 2022 at NAS Patuxent River as the Fleet Replacement Squadron writing the operational and maintenance procedures alongside VX-23, UX-24, and VX-1 — and VUQ-11 and VUQ-12 follow as the operational fleet squadrons that carry the Stingray to the boat.
