Flying a military derivative of the 737-700C, the Conquistadors provide around-the-clock fleet essential airlift for Fleet and Combatant Commanders worldwide, moving troops, high-priority cargo, spare parts, and personnel into every theater on short notice. That readiness was tested in December 1990 when the squadron was mobilized for Operation Desert Shield, operating out of Sembach Air Base, Germany, and carrying troops, supplies, and munitions across Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Arabian Gulf, earning a Navy Unit Commendation from the Secretary of the Navy.
