The squadron was established on December 14, 2018 at NAS North Island, stood up specifically to begin the Navy's transition from the legacy Grumman C-2A Greyhound — which provided Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) logistics support to US Navy aircraft carriers for four decades — to the Bell Boeing CMV-22B Osprey, the Navy variant of the V-22 tilt-rotor designed for the carrier-onboard-delivery and Fleet Logistics Multi-Mission role. The CMV-22B is a multi-engine, dual-piloted, vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) tilt-rotor aircraft, featuring increased operational range over the C-2A, faster cargo loading and unloading, improved survivability, and enhanced beyond-line-of-sight communications. VRM-30 received its first CMV-22B Osprey on June 22, 2020, made its inaugural deployment in 2021 aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) as part of Carrier Air Wing TWO (CVW-2) to the Pacific — the first operational CMV-22B carrier deployment in the US Navy — and in July 2024 began forward-deployed operations from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan. The squadron has expanded steadily as the Navy converts its COD lift fleet from C-2A to CMV-22B. This California license-plate-themed patch carries the squadron emblem and the San Diego homeport pride.

Perfect For: VRM-30 Titans active-duty and veteran personnel, CMV-22B Osprey pilots, naval aircrewmen, and maintainers, NAS North Island and San Diego naval aviation residents, C-2A Greyhound and Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) heritage veterans, Carrier Air Wing 2 personnel, USS Carl Vinson alumni, MCAS Iwakuni forward-deployed families, and Bell Boeing V-22 community supporters.

Titans — first Navy Osprey squadron, NAS North Island.
