The squadron operates the Boeing E-6B Mercury, a highly specialized airborne command post and communications relay aircraft at the center of the Navy's TACAMO mission. That mission — Take Charge And Move Out — exists to ensure the President and Secretary of Defense can communicate with ballistic missile submarines, strategic bombers, and missile silos under any conditions. VQ-3 relocated to Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, in 1992 and has continued to lead the TACAMO community through every aircraft transition and operational demand since. The Thanksgiving patch reflects a long-standing squadron tradition of marking the holiday with a unit-specific design, giving crews, families, and veterans a collectible piece tied to a specific moment in Ironmen history. As an NWU-format patch, it is built to the embroidered command patch standard worn on the Navy Working Uniform, making it as appropriate for the uniform sleeve as it is for a shadow box, gear bag, or display panel.

Perfect For: VQ-3 Ironmen veterans and active crew members, E-6B Mercury aviation collectors, TACAMO community supporters, Navy strategic communications enthusiasts, Tinker AFB alumni, holiday patch collectors, squadron reunion keepsakes, shadow box displays, challenge coin and patch boards, and anyone building a unit-history collection around Navy airborne command and control heritage. It also makes a meaningful gift for families who want a piece tied to a specific Ironmen holiday tradition and the quiet, critical mission behind it.

Ironmen heritage, holiday tradition, and TACAMO identity — stitched to last well beyond the season.
