The Bladerunner mission covers intermediate-level aircraft maintenance, aviation supply support, and munitions logistics for MAG-36 and its subordinate tactical squadrons, keeping aircraft ready for operational contingencies, theater security cooperation, and training exercises across the Indo-Pacific. The Shisa Dogs design on this patch draws directly from the host island's most recognizable cultural symbol. Shisa are traditional Ryukyuan guardian figures, resembling a cross between a lion and a dog, placed in pairs to ward off evil and preserve good fortune. Their presence on an MALS-36 patch connects the squadron's Okinawa home to a centuries-old protective tradition, making the imagery both locally grounded and personally meaningful for every Marine and Sailor who served on the island. MALS-36 has also supported humanitarian operations from the Philippines to Somalia and East Timor, building a record of sustained readiness that extends well beyond the flight line.

Perfect For: MALS-36 veterans and active-duty Marines, MAG-36 and 1st Marine Aircraft Wing alumni, aviation logistics technicians and supply specialists, Okinawa-stationed service members, military patch collectors focused on Indo-Pacific units, shadow box builders, deployment keepsake displays, reunion gifts, and families who want a piece that honors the maintenance and logistics work that keeps Marine aviation flying.
